It’s a cosmetic treatment whereby your doctor injects a solution into the subdermal muscles of your face to temporarily paralyze them. This paralyzing effect, in turn, reduces the appearance fine lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet.
Many facial wrinkles are made worse by the repeated muscle movements of smiling, frowning, or squinting. Botox injections minimize those muscle movements, which can help to reduce the appearance of your wrinkles and fine lines. Botox is FDA-approved and has been tested and studied extensively to ensure its safety. It is used in more than 50 countries around the world to help people to look their best.
A typical Botox treatment takes 10-30 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. Your physician provides a comprehensive pretreatment consultation to identify the precise locations for the injections, to discuss the treatment with you, and to answer any of your questions. Botox doesn’t require any downtime for recovery, and many of Solaris Laser & Skin Care’s clients come in during their lunch hour for treatment.
The effects are usually noticeable within 24-48 hours after treatment and last for three to six months. You can have additional treatments to maintain the smooth appearance of your skin. Many patients find that over time, they can wait longer between treatments without sacrificing their smooth, youthful appearance. Each client has a unique experience, however, so results are not guaranteed.
Facial fillers are another type of injectable treatment, although instead of temporarily paralyzing your facial muscles, they fill in wrinkles, scars, and other depressions in the skin with a hyaluronic acid gel.
Solaris Laser & Skin Care uses Juvederm® brand fillers. Juvederm offers an instant, natural-looking result that usually lasts for up to a year. Like Botox, Juvederm injections don’t take much time, and you don’t need to take time off to recover. Many clients have filler treatments on their lips and in the folds that develop around their mouth and nose, although the doctor can inject it into other parts of your face, neck, and even your hands.
